On December 15, the first 220kV autonomous and controllable relay protection device equipped with domestically developed chips in Shandong Power Grid — the PCS-931GA-G ultra-high voltage transmission line integrated protection device — was officially put into trial operation on the 220kV Shanhui Line at the 220kV Huihe Substation of Laiwu Power Supply Company. This is one of the first pilot applications of the "State Grid Chip" relay protection device in China's 220kV power grid, marking a huge leap in China's relay protection equipment chips from relying on foreign imports to independent design, development, and application.
Relay protection equipment is the first line of defense to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Power system relay protection can quickly and reliably remove system faults that endanger grid safety, ensuring the safety and stability of the power grid, avoiding severe equipment damage, and preventing large-scale blackouts. China's relay protection industry possesses a large number of advanced original concepts, principles, and technologies. Introduction to microcomputer protection devices The professional technical level has long been among the world's leading, but due to the overall development level of the domestic chip industry chain, more than 90% of the core chips in China's smart grid-related equipment still rely on foreign imports, posing significant risks to the information security of the strong smart grid.
To improve the localization and intelligence level of chips in power grid equipment, Laiwu Power Supply Company, as a pilot application unit, worked together with equipment suppliers to develop and complete a 220kV autonomous and controllable relay protection device using domestic chips, opening up the application market for domestic chips and comprehensively promoting the large-scale application of "State Grid Chips" in the power grid.
In the next step, Laiwu Power Supply Company will join forces with equipment suppliers and relay protection manufacturers to strengthen the statistical analysis and summary of operational data during the trial operation period, providing Laiwu experience for the State Grid Corporation's subsequent large-scale promotion and application of domestically produced autonomous and controllable protection devices.
